And we are now into half a kilo chooks!  When I weighed some of them on Friday for their weekly check, most of them weighed over 500gms!  Some are still a little small, but still come within the 10% over or under guidelines, so I'm quite pleased. Spent half of Friday manning the concrete mixer!  I can't chuck in as much muck as I did 20 years ago, but it kept hubby going, so he finished the footings of the big henhouse.  He's going to fill the base with hardcore, which is what I was doing Saturday, then concrete it over. Today he finished hardboarding the bottom 2ft of the house to help keep the drafts out, and I was painting all the cracks etc with water proofing stuff.  So the original bit of the big henhouse is now draft and water proofed, red mite proofed (I hope) and rot proof!  Tomorrow hubby is going to sort out the auto waterers and electrics, and hopefully half of the chicks will go in on Tuesday. At least that will give the ones left in the brooders a bit more room until the new half of the house is finished and they can all be together again!
