Well, its hard to believe that our babies are now 5 weeks old!  No longer the little yellow chick, but small white chickens!  They should have weighed 310 - 360 grams when I weighed them yesterday, but many of them were up to 425gms!  There are still a few that are a bit smaller, but they look healthy enough, so I'm not overly worried about them. Ebbene, la sua difficile credere che i nostri bambini sono ormai 5 settimane! Non è più il piccolo pulcino giallo, bianco, ma piccoli polli! Essi devono avere pesato 310 - 360 grammi quando ho pesato ieri, ma molti di essi sono stati fino a 425gms! Ci sono ancora alcuni che sono un po 'più piccolo, ma basta guardare sano, in modo non sono eccessivamente preoccupati per loro.

They try to fly out of the sheds now when I open the door, manage to catch them all so far though! Si provi a volare fuori della capannoni ora quando ho aperto la porta, riesce a catturare tutti anche se finora!

I mentioned in an earlier post that the hardboard surround is 2ft from the ground, well in the bigger brooder shed, hubby had blocked in the corners so none could fall down the back, but the chicks use them for roosting on.  I regularly find about a dozen or so sitting up there when I open the door! Di cui ho parlato in un precedente post che la circondano è un pannello duro 2 piedi da terra, anche nel più grande capannone chioccia, hubby aveva bloccato negli angoli così nessuno potrebbe cadere la schiena, ma i pulcini per uso su roosting. Ho regolarmente trovare su una dozzina di seduta lassù quando ho aperto la porta!

I forgot to mention in a previous post that I lost another 4 chicks.  My fault this time, and I'm embarrassed to mention it, but need to in case anyone else does the same thing.  I've been turning their heat off during the day for 2 weeks now, as its been very mild here, but this particular night we had a sudden cold snap, and I didn't realise it.  When I went out at 7.30pm to feed and water them.  I found them all at one end of the shed piled 4 high trying to keep warm, and underneath 4 dead ones!  They got crushed with the weight of all the others! Colpa mia questa volta, e sono in imbarazzo a parlare, ma necessario nel caso in cui nessun altro fa la stessa cosa. Ho stata svolta loro calore durante il giorno per 2 settimane, come il suo stato molto mite, ma questa particolare notte abbiamo avuto un improvviso scatto a freddo, e non ho realizzarla. Quando sono andato a 7.30pm per l'alimentazione e l'acqua loro. ho trovato tutti a una delle estremità del capannone alto 4 pali cercando di tenere caldo, e sotto quelle 4 morti! Essi hanno schiacciato con il peso di tutti gli altri!

When hubby came home, I was still very upset, and all I wanted was a cuddle to make me feel a little better, but as he is generally unemotional where animals are concerned, he just turned away and said oh don't start that.  Which of course made me feel even worse!!!!!   MEN!!!!! Hubby Quando tornò a casa, ero ancora molto turbato, e tutti volevo era un coccolare per rendere mi sento un po 'meglio, ma come egli è generalmente unemotional in cui gli animali sono interessati, ha appena voltò le spalle e disse: oh non iniziare questo. Che naturalmente mi ha fatto sentire ancora peggio !!!!! UOMINI !!!!!

Then on Wednesday I thought I had lost yet another!!!  I'd started to cook dinner, but the last 2 onions I had in the kitchen were going a bit soft, so I went out to the greenhouse which is my temporary shed to get some more, when I heard a distress call.  I couldn't tell which shed it was coming from, so I stood in the middle of both of them. Mercoledì poi ho pensato che avevo perso un altro ancora! Ho iniziato a cucinare la cena, ma gli ultimi 2 cipolle ho avuto in cucina sono state andando un po 'morbido, così mi sono recato per la serra che è la mia temporanea di un capannone un po 'di più, quando ho sentito una chiamata di soccorso. Non ho potuto dire che era un capannone provenienti da, e quindi era nel mezzo di ciascuno di essi. Silence……  Looked in the small shed, everything normal.  Looked in the larger shed and all the chicks were huddled at one end.  I couldn't think why, then I looked down, and one chick had jumped up onto the water bell, which has a metal hanging handle on top, but isn't hanging up, and she'd slipped and caught her foot in the handle and was dangling down very still. Silenzio ... ... Considerata nel piccolo capannone, tutto normale. Cercato nel capannone più grande e tutti i pulcini sono state addossate ad una fine. Non riuscivo a pensare perché, poi ho guardato verso il basso, e aveva un pulcino balzò in piedi su l'acqua campana, che ha un manico di metallo appeso in alto, ma non è appeso, e lei sarebbe scivolato e catturati nel suo piede e il manico è stato dangling ancora molto basso.

I thought she was dead, and thought oh no, not another one!  Anyway, when I picked her up and released her foot, she came to and just sat there looking at me.  So I put her down and she just sat, dazed, so I left her for a little while and went and cut my onions up, when I came back outside, she was up and away with the others.     PHEW, what a relief!!!! Ho pensato che era morto, e di pensiero oh no, non un altro! Comunque, quando ho scelto sua e rilasciato il suo piede, è arrivata solo sabato e vi guardando a me. Così ho messo giù il suo e lei solo sabato, frastornato, così ho lasciato la sua per un po 'di tempo e se ne andò e tagliare il mio cipolle, quando sono tornato al di fuori, era lontano e con gli altri. Phew, che sollievo!!

Well, we've re-homed all the ex batts now, and hubby and I took the end off the big hen house and he's started to do the concrete for the extension.  I cleaned it all out, and we found some red mite in there!  Something I've never had before, but the house is under some conifers, plus we've had more pigeons this year, and the swallows came back, so could have been any of them. Ebbene, abbiamo ri-homed tutti gli ex batts ora, e hubby e mi ha preso alla fine il grande gallina casa e ha iniziato a fare il calcestruzzo per l'estensione. Ho pulito tutto, e abbiamo trovato alcuni acaro in rosso esiste! Qualcosa non ho mai avuto prima, ma la casa è sotto alcuni conifere, più abbiamo avuto più piccioni questo anno, e le rondini tornato, in modo avrebbe potuto essere una di esse.

So I sprayed the whole house out with Jeyes, then the next day hubby hosed it out with the pressure washer, and we sprayed it with Jeyes again and let it dry, and now I'm painting it with creosote subs to try to keep them out.  I've never seen them before, and didn't realise how tiny they are, and how they get into such TINY cracks!!!!!  I've started dusting the new POL's with mite powder and will make sure there's plenty in the house, nest boxes and dust bath when the new girls go in there next week. Così ho spruzzato tutta la casa con Jeyes, poi il giorno successivo hubby hosed che con la rondella di pressione, e spruzzato con Jeyes nuovamente e lasciare asciugare, e ora ho dipinto con creosoto success per cercare di tenerli fuori. Non ho mai visto prima, e non rendo conto di quanto sono piccolo, e il modo in cui ottenere in tale TINY fessure !!!!! Ho iniziato a spolverare il nuovo POL con acaro della polvere e assicurarsi che c'è in casa, scatole di nido e di fare bagni di polvere, quando le nuove ragazze andare lì la prossima settimana.

I suppose you can use it on the chicks.  There's nothing to say otherwise on the container. Suppongo che lo si può utilizzare su i pulcini. Non c'è niente da dire altrimenti sul contenitore.
