Sorry everyone.  Sign of old age, I really didn't realise that its been 3 weeks since I posted last!  Well, it's been a busy time!

Although the Babcock's are only 14 weeks old now, they are all either gone, or the last few are reserved and waiting for their new owner's to come and collect them!

 I was going to have a couple of months off to re-configure the runs and houses, but I am still getting a lot of phone calls from people wanting chickens!

 So on Tusday I called the hatchery to ask if there was any possibilities of some surplus chicks for next week, and they said well we have 1000 amberlinks left from yesterdays' hatching and nearly 500 Goldlines from today's!  So we rushed down and came back with………… 500!!!!  half Amberlinks and half Goldines.  We have cleaned the shed out that we had used for the turkeys, but not warmed it up,  so Brian went out to get some more hardboard and I got the heat lamps ready.  But that night the shed still hadn't had time to warm up properly and we lost some chicks.  I'd already found 5 that weren't looking too good, so brought them in and put them on a hot water bottle and they perked up a lot.  But they died yesterday and today.  I coldn't get them to eat or drink.  Only when I dipped their beaks in the water would they swallow a little.  Then Wednesday morning there was another 11 in the brooder ring, and I found one today that had blood coming from its nostril and it looked really poorly, so I put her out of her misery.  I don't like doing it, but I hate seeing them suffer.

But the others look really well!  Rushing around the ring!  Once the Bbcocks go, I'll clean their big house out and put half of these babies over there and keep half in the shed that used to be Brian's workshop!!!!  Funny thing is, 100 of the new babies are already booked!

We have a lovely couple who have had 66 of our last lot of amberlinks, and Saturday week we took 100 Babcocks up to them too!  Their eggs are selling really well, in fact they can't keep up with demand!!!!!

I've got 2 lots of people coming tomorrow for 10 birds each, so I think I'd better get to bed as I had a glass of my homemade apple wine tonight and its quite potent!!!!
