Fame at last!

Sorry I am so late in posting again!   I honestly don't know why time goes so quickly!  but the past couple of weeks have been busy.

On 25th November, I went down to Kent to spend the week with my youngest daughter and family as it was her eldest daughter's 18th on the 28th.  I took a turkey and 2 chickens down to an allotment friend for thanksgiving.  I also took my daughter 30 eggs and I didn't smash one of them!!! Yaaaayyyyy.

I got back last Wednesday, complete with stinking cold, courtesy of my 10 month old great granddaughter!  While I was away, my Brian had taken our car in for its MOT on the Monday and called me to say that it was all rusty underneath, would be away for the whole week and would cost £550!!!  So please buy some turkeys so I can pay for it!!!!!  Our friends down the road had to come and pick me up from the station  otherwise I would have had to wait over an hour for a bus!

Anyway, just after I got home, John from the allotment site called to say I might be getting a call from a lovely lady called Melanie from the BBC.  they are doing a programme on frugal Christmas and she wanted to know if John knew anyone who grew their own Christmas dinner!  And he mentioned me!  Melanie called me just after  finished talking with John, and was very interested in learning about the turkeys and chickens, and arranged for her little film crew to arrive on Friday.

I thought it would be a quick interview and lots of shots of the turkeys, but they were here for 2.5 hours!  They were all enchanted with the turkeys, 2 of them never having actually seen a real one before!  Steve interviewed me standing in the middle of the muddy turkey run, and I must have sounded a right idiot, as I've never done anything like that before, and I am very conscious of being a rather large lady, worse when I have my thick coat on!

Then we went back indoors and I'd made some bread rolls, sprout and bacon soup and a victoria sandwich for dessert, which they all enjoyed, and then Melanie did say she wanted to see me making some of my Christmas cards, but I ended up getting my small christmas tree out of the garage and trying to look like I was decorating it while talking to Steve.  Then Ian the cameraman sat on the floor taking shots of Penny our dog.  So move over Lassie, you've got competition!!!!! lolol

So I can shortly put on my turkey advert "As seen on the BBC!!!!!" lol

If anyone would like to see the turkeys, they will be on Jeremy Paxman's Newsnight tomorrow Monday 8th December at 10.30pm.  Just don't look at the green Michelin man standing there looking like an idiot!!!! lol

Must dash now as I feel rough and am having an early night!!!

Will try to post again soon, but it will soon be culling tie, so we'll be a bit busy for the next few weeks!
