Breaking News!!
I didn't realise it was over a week again since my last post! But today I got an email from one of the ladies who had 4 of our POL Amberlinks last week, and she has had her first egg today!!! How about that then? I am so pleased, they were 18 weeks old yesterday, and I'm really chuffed, just hope the others are early too, because if some of you remember, the last lot of Amberlinks which grew up in the winter, didn't start to lay until they were 23-26 weeks old. But the Babcock's were early too and they grew up during the spring and early summer.
But that's a bit strange as people say they need the longer days to encourage them to lay, and yet now the days are a lot shorter. So I'm a bit puzzled!! But really pleased for them.

Hi grannie! You must of done all the right things with your chooks for them to start laying so early! My babcock Anik-hen (Annie for short!) is now 24 weeks and is showing no signs of laying anytime soon. I worry that maybe I did something wrong whilst I was rearing them? but then again Nugget my goldline of the same age started laying a week ago and we have already had a huge 73kg egg off of her?
Just to let you know we had our first egg this morning not sure which one laid but hope the others catch up soon regards mark and kirstie
Thanks Mark for the comment, I'll see if I can find you another 2 layers when you come this afternoon!!!!
