Everything is growing nicely!

The Coloryield chicks are nearly 3 weeks old now and are weighing about 260gms!  The turkeys are 12 weeks today and are getting BIG!!!   Oh actually something did go wrong, we lost a turkey Thursday.  We had to go to town to the dentist, so weren't gone too long, but when we came home, I went out to see if all was well, and I could hear the turkeys making a strange noise.  they 'chatter' to each other, but this chattering was different and I noticed 5 of them standing around one on the ground in the run.  She was dead.  the others had for some reason started pecking her ear, and made a big hole there.  She had put her head through the fence, I suppose to get away from them, but then they started on her left thigh.  I think they just go into shock or something and just die.  she was still floppy, so hadn't been gone long.  Poor thing.  So I wrapped her up and put her in the freezer, as we met a couple last week who keep a hawk, and I've promised they can have anything that gets killed for him.

The Amberlinks are 17 weeks old this week and I hope it won't be to long before they start to lay.  I hope they don't wait until after Christmas!!!!  Quite a few have already gone now, so we've only got just over 100 left! I'm going to put my sign out the front tomorrow, and put a note on the 'for sale' page on here.  Hopefully they will all soon go to new homes, apart from the 24 I'm keeping for myself for egg laying.  I may re-home my older girls who are still in their prime, as it would be better if I have girls all from the same batch as they all know each other!

Today we collected the boxes for sending out the turkeys.  Lovely white double walled cardboard boxes, only 40p each!  So that helps keep costs down.  Courier is sorted, as is the stuff to keep them chilled for next day delivery!  So we are ready and waiting.  I'll put the prices on the for sale page and hopefully on the front page and sort out so people can pay by Paypal.  Hope we don't get too many orders, or we'll run out of turkeys!!!!! lol  The Coloryields should be nice and big by christmas too!!!

So busy time coming up now!
