Well another week gone……..
I really don't know where the time goes to! How I ever managed to cummute to London every day I don't know! Got more of the garden dug and Hubby rotavated it for me. I dug 2 really deep trenches for my runner beans and put in some old but still a bit smelly chicken poop, but even if it's a bit strong still, its about 9 inches down, so the beans should be okay.
But yesterday and today I've been helping hubby pluck chickens! Can't say I was looking forward to it, as I raised those chicks from day old, but I promised I would and they are for my friend Sharon's friend in Surrey. Really I didn't want to cull any until next week when the 757's are 10 weeks old, but her friend is coming up this weekend. Bit of a nuisance though. Sharon said she wanted 40! which pleased hubby, but I knew I wouldn't have 40 which were a really decent weight. So I said she could have 19. Besides I do have other people asking about them! So we put 19 of the biggest into the brooder shed and kept them on finisher for a week, then Sharon phones up on Wednesday and says, oh she wants 15 now!!!! People, wish they'd make up their minds! Anyway, so we are going to have one on sunday, and our friends Rob and Julie are coming tomorrow for one to try and there are several other people who have expressed an interest in them, otherwise, the other 2 will go in the freezer.
So being a bit busy, I didn't get the chicks weighed until today. The remaining meat chicks seem to be between 2.5 and 3.25 kgs.
And the Babcock's at 5 weeks now weigh between 325 and 425 gms!
