Ann can u answer a question for me coz i dont recall this ever happening before.
Do chickens stop laying during molt ????????????
Hi Michelle, yes they do love. All their energy is going into producing new feathers, so they generally haven't enough to lay eggs as well. Also pure breeds generally stop laying during winter too, but yours are hybrids aren't they? so they will generally lay well during their first winter, then production goes down a little each year.
Hope that answers your question?? See you in a couple of weeks. Turkeys are doing well. Little monsters they are getting now!!! lol
Take Care Ann
Hi Ann
Sorry to bother you just a quick question about the turkey's, when is it that they can go for a wonder outside? they are all doing great and packing the weight on I am converted hehe
Jay x
Hi Jay, further to our long phone conversation just now re your turkeys! Just be warned!!
Once they taste the outdoor life, you'll have trouble getting them to go to bed!!!
Oh I remember cold dark rainy even snowy nights last year, walking up the vegetable garden which was their run, with a bambo cane in each hand trying to shepherd them into their shed! There was always at least one that would duck under the canes, then as soon as you turn your back to bring him back, the others would make a dash for it too!!! lol
