More Babies!
To try out using the 3 different trays in the incubator for different stages of eggs. 6 days after we put the original 39 eggs in, I then added another 10 Appenzellar eggs. What worried me was the humidity should be higher when the eggs are in the hatching basket than when they are in the trays. However, Last night we had our first 2 chicks hatch, and another 6 today! so we now have another 8 appenzellar babies in the little brooder box and waiting to see if the remaining 2 hatch.
So we've now hatched 24 Appenzellar chicks from 30 eggs. I'm really pleased, especially as they are supposed to be a rare breed!!
